If you haven't arranged a cell phone plan before, you may be forgiven for being confused with the vast array of schemes and cell phones on offer; stick to plans that provide just what you require within your preset budget. Owing to the large number of network services in this country, it may help you to research their offers before deciding on which scheme suits you best; rushing this can cost more in the long term if a customer is tied to a contract they doesn't suit them.

The option of paying for their cell phone plan on a monthly basis may suit those individuals who use the phone more frequently. Knowing the two options should help you decide whether your phone use is such that you would be better served with a monthly option that allowed for a certain number of free minutes.

Smart Phones are Us

Smart phones are mobile phones with computer-like features making them versatile to substitute a plethora of devices. For manufacturers they are about design and software, for users they are about functionality.

Smart phones are mobile phones with advanced features, generally combining standard communications capabilities with rich data applications and enhanced connectivity. As such, smart phones have as much in common with computers as they do with mobile phones. Smart phones often have fully enhanced applications that allow them to perform tasks that are above and beyond the functions of a regular mobile phone that us supplemented only by sandboxed applications. For the manufacturers such as Nokia, Samsung, Sony-Ericcson, Blackberry, Motorola, BenQ, LG and Apple, they are a question of design and software.

The IBM Simon was the first smart phone made commercially available in 1993. It was designed by IBM in collaboration with Bellsouth, introducing it first as a concept product in a computer trade show held in Las Vegas, Nevada, circa 1992.
